Frequently Asked Questions
As a popular Toronto Photographer service, we get numerous requests for advice, not always related to the services we offer. To help you get answers faster, below you’ll find a list of our Frequently Asked Questions. Please browse our FAQs to see if our previous responses help resolve your query.
As a Toronto Photographer, do you do photoshoots in suburban areas?
The primary areas served include the city of Toronto and nearby districts of Mississauga, Vaughan, Scarborough, Etobicoke, and Forest Hill.
Can I book a photoshoot if an area needs a permit?
As a Toronto Photographer with experience in a vast range of local public spaces, we can advise on the different locations, specific times for use, and any permit fees that may be required, and confirm location dates and times in advance of booking acceptance. This ensures the location for your shoot is available and has no events planned or filming taking place on the date requested for your photoshoot.
What does the term ‘natural light photography’ mean?
When a Toronto photographer describes their style as being “natural light”, what’s meant is they shoot in daylight hours, possibly in studios with lots of south-facing windows that get plenty of natural sunlight.
What are ‘golden hour’ photography sessions and do you offer them?
Many a Toronto photographer will encourage clients requesting outdoor photoshoots to book slots for earlier or later in the day. This is because the natural lighting is better. Golden hour refers to the hour before sunset and the hour after sunrise. It’s the creative hour when the soft lighting from the sun being lower on the horizon does wonders for skin complexions, eliminating shadows under the eyes, and beautifying romantic engagement photos. These are prime opportunities for outdoor photography.
What file types do you deliver?
All photo shoots are shot in RAW file format, and digital touch-ups are done in post-production with final images delivered as JPEG as standard as those have high quality retained and are widely recognized by print software. If you require a specific file type, such as PNG or PSD for business photography, do note that the file sizes are larger because of less compression. We can accommodate most file types so if you have a preferred format, either for print or further digital editing, please do get in contact.
I need a Toronto Photographer for an outdoor photoshoot, but what if the weather’s bad?
When booking our Toronto photographer sessions for outdoor shoots, we do make contingency plans. Numerous factors can impact the day, including, thunderstorms, heavy rain/downpours making certain locations unusable, weather warnings (we play it safe), and extreme fog that can make shooting photos impossible. When a curveball impacts your photoshoot, we can reschedule your session, or make alternative arrangements for an indoor photoshoot.
In Toronto, photographer services have various terms. What style is yours and how would you describe it?
Toronto photographer titles are descriptors that help clients get a feel for that photographer’s style. At Photography by Melike, the traditional style is portraiture. We aim to take candid photos and specialize in family portraits, business portraits, newborn photography, maternity photoshoots, and engagement photography. Typically, our studio portrait photoshoots tend to be women in maternity photoshoots or couples’ photography, and we also cater to family portraits with pets and can accommodate on-site photoshoots in and around Toronto, including, Mississauga, Vaughan, Scarborough, Etobicoke, and Forest Hill.
